It’s in this castle that Anne de Bretagne married Charles VIII at the sunrise of the 6 december 1491. This marriage ended the troubles between France and Bretagne and this wedding helped the attachment from the duchy to the French royalty.
To this day, in Brittany we do not have toll road because of this wedding. Anne de Bretagne made a contract that when the wedding to the King will happened the Bretons would be protected from the ” right of passage” ( toll road).

I really enjoy all the perspectives of this castle that you’ve shown. Amazing that the city built up all around it and nearly hides it from view. Given the history behind the castle, as you’ve mentioned, it’s good to see that history is worth preserving!
