Highland Avenue restaurant in Hickory

Wow! Wow! Wow!

I was totally impressed when I ate there. We arrived at the restaurant and were welcomed there.

We choose to sit outside. The food was fabulous. One of my friends had spotted the place during his work week and wanted to take me there as he knows I am a foodie. Hard to impress me, and I mean Hickory? Well I was impressed by the appetizer plate of cured meat and cheese. Everything made there! It was incredible.

I opted for the fish du jour and what an incredible decision it was ….

I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in town. A must!!

Photos from the iPhone, wish I would of had my camera…

Snow days, school out, kids at play

Snow days, school canceled meant we were outside having a blast, sledding , making snowman. So many kids ended up at the house. We baked, we drank hot cocoa and we were cold, and wet and we had such a wonderful time!

Sarlat, Perigord

Sarlat, is the capital of the Perigord and it is located in the heart of a forest. It is a town on the Valley of the Dordogne river.

Sarlat is a very high architectural quality. It is a very medieval town and has a lot of very large, and little sunny squares, It is very lively on market days.
Since 1928, the cinema producers have found this authentic surroundings good for historical movies.

Sarlat is a very  charming medieval city with some Occitan overtones.

It was absolutely picturesque.

La France cet ete… France this summer

There are so many things I am grateful for. One of them is my trip during the summer back home.

I am leaving with the children on June 15, it will come fast with all the end of school activities. We are coming back on July the 23rd.

During our stay there, we will take one trip together with my parents and head to the South of France. It will be a wonderful photographic journey.

We will leave from Paris June 16 and visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarlat-la-Canéda, then we will take the time to do the little Villages around like Rocamadour: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocamadour, then we will stop by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collonges-la-Rouge. We will visit le Gouffre de Padirac et les grottes de Lascaux where the prehistorics drawings are: http://www.lascaux.culture.fr/?lng=en

Of course Bergerac, is on the way back, it is one of my favorite wine…

This nice weather that we have right now makes me long for the aperitifs outside, the time to have meals outside, time to have friends over.

I will also take a trip to Paris by myself and enjoy photographing the city 23/06 au vendredi 28/06. After that it is friends and kids, and beach, and home:-)

“The Ugly Truth of Depression” Documentary finished

The documentary “The Ugly Truth of Depression” is finished.

I can not thank enough the couple that let me document their lives.

I hope this documentary brings awareness to men that have depression, and courage to woman that lives with men affected by depression.

New Challenges

As I am writing this post I thought of titleing it “Discourage” but my positive attitude took over.

My son Jason and I are training for another triathlon and we have decided we needed to be better swimmers after our first triathlon. We both placed very well in our age range and we want to place better. For that we need to work our weakness: Swimming!

Well, Jason joined the Jordan high school swim team and has made remarkable progress and I have been training at the pool also.

Tonight was an humbling experience, Jason said to really get into a olympic triathlon, I needed to learn “freestyle”.

We went to my pool at Homestead tonight and he taught me breathing, and the freestyle stoke.

I warmed up and was feeling great. I have been swimming for the past month and half and have been building endurance.

After my 100 meters warm-up , we started by taking a board and kicking the feet for another 100 meters..that was tough in itself. It was hard to stay really straight.

Then the freestyle stoke killed me, really! I was barely able to take a breath every two strokes! I stopped twice in 50 meters, I swallow more water than I ever wanted!

After a 45 minutes workout , I was discouradge and thought I was crazy to want to take on this challenge! I actually told myself I was maybe too old for that…

Jason told me I needed to practice the same thing for the next three weeks…Don’t even want to think about doing this again tomorrow and yet I am sure you will found me at 5h30am at the Homestead Pool.

Those photos are photos of Jason at the first swim meet 2 weeks ago.
