For those of you that do not subscribe to my Professional travel blog, here is my last post.
I was a happy camper when my parents ( so lucky to have them) did give us the privilege this summer to treat us to a fabulous trip to the Haut-Medoc. I was in Heaven. I was able to discover a region of France that I never been and neither did my parents. What a treat!
Here is the link and photos of the journey.
I actually did not know all the history behind Fort Ross. I did not even know that Alaska belonged at one point to the Russians.
It was fascinating to learn so much about how the Russian came to Fort Ross, the Russian settlements, and the farming at the fort. If you are interested go check out the website at the link below:
Here are couple of photos I took on the ground of the Fort.
It was a pleasure to stay at The Fairmont Mission Inn and Spa. I was there for 4 days and what an incredible experience. As usual I look for the food quality, the service and the accommodations. It was incredible all around! The grounds were clean, I was able to shoot so much there. The food, the staff, the way they accommodate the clients was really above and beyond. I hope I get the opportunity to go to other Fairmont and see if the service and accommodations are up to the standards.
The Spa accommodations were great, and the staff there very kind.
Here are couple of photos I took there. A must stay if you are going to Sonoma!
We went to the Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville, California. What a grandiose place it was.
Filled with movie memorabilia, the desk that was in the Godfather movie, the boats that were used in the Marie Antoinette movie. The Automobile was the original car from the movie Tucker. The car was actually placed on a turn table, it was really impressive.
The outdoor was wonderful. Between the pool, the bocce courts and the view, it was a wonderful time to take a tour of the propriety.
We did not try the wine there, we just walked the ground and the propriety.
I just spent the past week between New Hampshire, and Cape Cod in Massachusetts. So many photos to edit! I barely have started. It was an amazing vacation full of historical events. It was my first time in Cape Cod, what a beautiful place it was! It was also my first time in the state of New Hampshire. We went to the top of Mount Washington. There are so many of ski resorts, lakes….It was a magical week! Picnic either on top of mountains in NH, or in the salt march of Cape Cod. Sunsets on the Cape were amazing! It was wonderful to travel and have no time for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It was all improvised on the day, the site, and what we were doing. I can’t believe how much we have seen and done in a week. Here are just the iPhone low quality photos we took at the Attitash Alpine Slide. That was so much fun going down the slopes! Can’t wait to go back this winter to ski hopefully with the kids and to see family in Vermont that I did not have the chance to see this time around.
For the both of them it is their second marriage. They have been married for 32 years ( I think). Being on vacation with them was a good example of what a healthy marriage/relationship should be.
Every morning my dad over the 10 days of vacations would wake up, and say good morning to both my mom and I. At breakfast he would get up, get his coffee, set it on the table and go kiss my mom with a ” Bonjour ma cherie” .
During visiting Athenes, Santorini, he would take my mom’s hand, or put his arms around her shoulders. Not by obligations, but in such a natural way. Every night he would get up from the bed in the hotel, and go get a piece of dark chocolate for himself and ask ” Tu veux une tisane ma cherie?” and he would make her a tea.
He was taking so many photos of her , and on the same time of me. He told me : this is normal Katia, this is how it should be.
They both joke so much, laugh all times, don’t take themselves seriously.
And then the night before we left Athenes we were talking about many things as we are inside a restaurant and my dad gave this speech that actually made me and my mom cry.
He gave his declaration of love right there, and why he loved my mom, and what love was suppose to be, or not to be. It was the most beautiful thing he ever said, and if you knew my dad you would know he is not the kind of kind to say this kind of things very easily. I can count on my hand the times I heard him say I love you.
That was the most beautiful speech I had ever heard. Wish I had record it. At then end ,both my mom and I in tears crying in this restaurant, my mom said…I never knew you felt that way, still , after all these years.
Anyway here are the photos I took of them together.
They have show me what is love, and are a perfect example of why it last. They both give to each other. There is not just one that inspire the other…they both inspire each other. They both challenge each other still. They both lift each other up. It is both way, it goes both ways. They both have been very sucessful and still together because they always had each others back and pushed each other further. That is why they respect each other. They are truly an example!
